Expedia Group Powers Communications with CEDAR Audio’s VoicEX 2.

Expedia Group, Inc. is one of the world’s leading travel technology companies, giving customers access to flights on over 500 airlines and accommodation from over three million properties around the world. Serving destinations in over 70 countries using more than 20 global brands, Expedia has an in-house production department that is permanently busy creating a range of material for employees, customers and other stakeholders.
Much of the team’s time is taken up with video production as well as managing regular livestream ‘town hall’ style meetings to inform and educate Expedia’s global roster of employees. “We produce high-profile content every year that is primarily designed for internal use by our employees”, comments Matt Jones, Expedia Group’s AV Production Engineer. “It’s an important part of what we do, and we want all content to be high quality and in-keeping with the Expedia brand. When it comes to video content, our schedule and locations are often dictated by our leaders’ busy schedules. This means we’re shooting in busy offices with lots of background noise where it can be difficult to control audio quality and get the results we need”.
That’s where CEDAR Audio’s innovative VoicEX 2 plugin comes to the rescue. Based on the latest advances in AI-based audio processing, VoicEX 2 sets a new standard for real-time noise reduction and reverb suppression without the introduction of any unwelcome artifacts. It’s also remarkably simple to use, which means that novices and experts alike can achieve remarkable results quickly and easily. Matt Jones agrees. “I’ve tested a whole variety of de-noisers and CEDAR’s VoicEX 2 does a fantastic job of removing unwanted noise while maintaining very natural-sounding speech”.
Expedia’s ‘town hall’ livestream broadcasts have been particularly tricky for Jones and team to manage. “These meetings are seen by our entire company, so of course we want them to look and sound professional and polished. We use lavalier mics for our presenters because they discreetly clip to clothing and are comfortable to wear. The downside is that they can introduce a lot of extra noise that can make it into the livestream, distracting from what is being said and reducing the perception of quality. We generally delay the livestream audio to align it with the video, so I’m able to insert VoicEX 2 into the signal chain without creating any sync issues”.
“We’re always looking for tools that can help improve the quality of our output and give us an edge. CEDAR products are incredibly easy to use and offer us the kind of consistent and dependable performance we need when we’re working with high volumes of content and hitting tight deadlines. VoicEX 2 is now an essential part of our production toolkit”, he concludes.
