Live sound can be plagued by numerous problems including background noise, excessive reverberation and feedback. CEDAR can help eliminate all of these. In the conference hall, a CEDAR DNS 8D dialogue noise suppressor can be installed to suppress the background noise for up to eight microphone channels, allowing the sound engineer to raise the PA level without causing discomfort to the audience. The same unit will also suppress excessive reverberation to increase intelligibility.
In other situations, CEDAR can be used to push back the onset of feedback loops. A CEDAR DNS 2 or CEDAR DNS 4 on the vocal channels of live music events will allow the wanted signal to pass but suppress sounds including the build-up of constant frequency loop tones, so the live sound engineer can raise the level further before feedback occurs.
