CEDAR Cambridge audio restoration at Fluid Mastering

3 August 2007

Based in Ravenscourt Studios in Hammersmith, Fluid Mastering was formed in late 2006 by Tim Debney & Nick Watson, both formerly mastering engineers at London's renowned Townhouse Studios. They were committed to providing the best possible technical facilities including a full set of audio capabilities for mastering for CD & download, vinyl cutting, remastering, editing and restoration. For the last of these, they decided to purchase a CEDAR Cambridge™ audio restoration workstation with a comprehensive set of software tools. This allows them to cater for a wide range of legacy production formats such as analogue 1/4" and 1/2" tape or even vinyl and cassette.

The most powerful restoration system yet developed, CEDAR Cambridge is used in all areas of audio restoration and audio forensic investigation. It remains capable of removing more noise - and more types of noise - than any other system, without damaging the desired audio or introducing unwanted side-effects and artefacts.

Fluid Mastering also uses a SADiE5 mastering & editing workstation which includes a set of CEDAR's restoration plug-ins, including Retouch™.
