Darren Ziesing discusses CEDAR's Adaptive Limiter

It's not every day that you get to chat with an engineer who's worked with some of the biggest brands in the industry, so we relished the chance to speak with Darren Ziesing about his use of CEDAR's Adaptive Limiter.

Darren is the founder of Millenium Mastering and has worked with labels including Sony Music, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Ministry of Sound, and Island. We recently learned that he has been using the Adaptive Limiter for many years, and chatted with him to learn more about how it helps him deliver exceptional work for his clients.

He explained, "We've been using it for years now, and it has consistently proven to be the best-in-class limiter in our toolkit. Its proprietary algorithm and unique approach to limiting enable the transparent and natural sound we've come to rely upon" and then added, "The Adaptive Limiter has been on every release since the day I got it."

"One of the things we love the most about it is its compatibility with our high-end analogue gear. It keeps the warm and rich tone of our mastering hardware while delivering the required limiting for any project. Furthermore, unlike some other limiters, it doesn't have a detrimental impact on the image or depth of the audio. It creates a more transparent, natural-sounding limiting without the pumping or breathing sounds found in other limiters."

In conclusion, he outlined how important the Adaptive Limiter is to his work: "The CEDAR Adaptive Limiter is a crucial tool that we rely on day-in and day-out to produce results of the highest calibre, and it's a true workhorse in the studio. It's a must-have for any mastering engineer seeking high-quality output. We highly recommend it."

About the CEDAR Studio Adaptive Limiter

The Adaptive Limiter employs a unique and amazingly transparent algorithm that uses a continuously varying EQ profile to constrain the amplitude of the output while retaining the integrity of the input. It can craft a wide range of responses and, with its advanced resampling and noise shaping capabilities, it's ideal for mixing, mastering and other creative duties.
