CEDAR for Live Sound - cleaning up the 50th Grammy Awards broadcast

CEDAR Audio at the Grammy Awards 2008

15 February 2008

The Grammy Awards ceremony is one of the biggest shows of its kind in the world. In 2008, Grammy veteran Klaus Lansberg used two CEDAR DNS1000 dialogue noise suppressors in the final mix buss for room shaping and to help make a cohesive whole of the 24 microphones used in the Staples Centre to record the proceedings. This ensured that the four channels of audience reaction could be mixed with the stage output to create a high-quality 5.1 broadcast mix with no untoward noise injected from the auditorium. The discrete 5.1 mix was then encoded for satellite transmission by the CBS network.

Since the birth of digital audio, engineers have been striving to provide high quality digital noise reduction with no appreciable delay between input and output. CEDAR's DNS series provides superb noise suppression with a latency of merely 1/400th of a frame. No more loading hard disks, no more slipping against timecode, no more frame stores... just the highest quality noise suppression in real real-time.
