Sometimes you will want to alter the duration of some or all of an audio clip without affecting its pitch. This can be particularly useful when trying to increase the intelligibility of speech, so the algorithm in Time Stretch has been optimised for speech signals. You can adjust the speed of signals within the range 20% - 200%, and the process offers four modes to preserve the audio quality of different types of signal.
Note: If you wish to alter the speed of some or all of an audio file and alter its pitch when doing so (say, to correct for wow in the recording), you should use Respeed.
You can apply time stretching to video files. Not only will the audio be stretched, but the video will be stretched to maintain synchronisation. If you save the output as an AV file in H264 format, the audio and the video will remain synchronised in the new file.
