Renowned forensic expert chooses CEDAR for forensic audio investigation

Eddy B Brixen

8 March 2008

Eddy B. Brixen has been involved with forensic audio for more than 20 years. Since 2002 he has been the owner and director of EBB-consult, which is one of the leading Danish companies involved in forensic audio, and which counts the Danish Police and Danish Intelligence among its customers. Eddy has been using CEDAR Cambridge for a number of years and has recently added CEDAR Cambridge Declip to his suite of tools. He told us, "I am often presented with forensic recordings that - as well as all the other problems associated with background noise and interference - suffer from clipping distortion. This can be quite severe at times, and certainly makes it more difficult to hear what is being said. Looking for a solution, I found that the Declip package on CEDAR Cambridge was the world's best tool for this purpose."

Eddy holds positions as Vice Chairman of the AES standards workgroup on Audio Forensics as well as the Technical Committee on the same topic. He is also a board member of the American College of Forensic Examiners and the Board of Recorded Evidence. He has presented several papers and written a number of textbooks on audio topics, of which 'Audio Metering' has been published in English.
